1-Day Courteous Malaysian Workshops

MEB,Wednesday26 May 2011

TRAINING OBJECTIVE

In line with our Honourable Tourism Minister’s New Year wish for service personnel to be more friendly, MATTA is organising a series of workshops nationwide to promote courtesy in the tourism industry. Courtesy is not an option but a crucial factor in customer service which would lead to greater sales and profitability. The aim of these workshops is to create a rippling effect across the industry resulting in more tourism personnel being identified as COURTEOUS MALAYSIANS.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

As courtesy cannot be switched on whenever we like, it requires constant training and practice until it becomes a habit. Therefore, the workshop is suitable for all levels of staff and sectors, such as

Ø Tourism front liners from both public and private sectors. Public sectors include Tourism Ministry, Immigration, Customs and Police and private sectors include travel, tours, transportation and car rental companies, airlines, hotels, restaurants, shops, attractions etc.

Ø Supervisors, Managers and Trainers who monitor or train their staff

Ø General Managers and Directors who set policies and procedures for their organisations

Ø Anyone who wishes to develop his career / business and to grow as an individual

FACILITATOR

Mr YS Chan has gained wide experience in the tourism industry from serving in many companies as General Manager in travel, tours, transportation, training and car rental. He attended the “Train-the-Trainer” Integrated Training Programme by EC/ASEAN and was involved in the training for Vietnamese Provincial and Tourism Industry Leaders sponsored by the European Commission by developing and delivering the modules on Tourism Policy. He has conducted tourist guides training, Malaysia Host, Mesra Malaysia, Career and Business Development and in-house training for several corporate customers for Matta School. He is also a Certified Trainer for Tourism English. Chan is also a social commentator and his views are regularly published in all the leading local English newspapers. His strong views on courtesy have led to the development of this training programme.

WHAT METHODOLGY?

These workshops are highly interactive and participants will be encouraged to share best practices and provide examples. Participants would gain invaluable knowledge and insight while raising their awareness and motivation to demonstrate courtesy.
