Appointment – Mr YS Chan is the new Centre Manager for MATTA School of Tourism (MST)

The MATTA School of Tourism (MST) is offering many new short training seminars/workshops,
which would be beneficial for those involve in the travel and tour industry.

These 2-day training seminars/workshops are specially designed for 16,340 travel and tour
personnel working as:-

·                     Tour Vehicle Drivers
·                     Taxi Drivers (engaged by member companies)
·                     Reservations & Ticketing Staffs
·                     Car Rental Reservations Staffs including Airport
·                     Airport Representatives
·                     Hospitality Desks Staffs
·                     Sales Personnel
·                     Inbound Tour Operations Staffs
·                     Tour Vehicle Operations Staffs
·                     Car Rental Operations Staffs

These personnel have been identified to be in frequent contact with tourists. MST plans to
train about 12% or 1,950 of these personnel in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru by the
end of 2007.

Some of the objectives are to:

·                     Upgrade their hospitality skills, expand their jobs, enhance their professionalism and
develop business for their companies
·                     Practise or exceed the standards set by the industry in order to achieve
internationally competitive service standards
·                     Have a sense of pride and achievement in their jobs and country and deliver
exceptional customer service

Meanwhile, there are also other MST courses available for staff of MATTA members and the public
such as:

1.                  Tourist Guide Course (5 months)
2.                  IATA/UFTAA Diploma Course (5 months)
3.                  Executive Diploma in Strategic Tourism Management (12 months)
4.                  Mesra Malaysia (1 day)
